How to sell pottery class tickets on Shopify

If your studio already sells clay, tools or finished pieces on Shopify, your classes can live there too. Customers pick a date from a calendar on your store, pay at your normal checkout, and you see exactly who is coming.

The problem with how most shops do it

Most studios list classes as a plain product and track spots by hand, or send people to a separate booking site that takes a fee on every ticket. Both mean double-booked wheels, questions about which date is which, and buyers who never see the rest of your shop.

How to set it up

  1. Install Astraa Events Calendar on your Shopify store.
  2. In the app, click Create event. Add the title, date and time, venue, capacity and a ticket price. The app creates a ticket product with that many spots.
  3. In your theme editor, add the Events calendar block to a page such as “Classes” or “Events”, as a list or a month grid.
  4. Customers pick a date, check out as usual, and you see them on the attendee list.

Ideas for pottery studios

A one-off taster session

Create one event with the date, your studio as the venue and a capacity matching your wheels, for example 8. Set a ticket price and the app makes a ticket product with 8 spots. When it sells out, customers can join the waitlist.

A 6-week wheel course

Set Repeat to "Every week", Number of dates to 6 and Sell as to "One ticket for all dates". Each student buys once, appears on one attendee list, and is checked in separately each week.

Class only, or class with firing and glazing

Add two ticket types to the same event, such as "Class only" at $45 and "Class + firing" at $60. Each type has its own price and number of spots out of the class capacity.

Kids and adults

Use the Ages field (for example "8+") so it shows on the event page, and add Adult and Child ticket types if prices differ.

On the day

Open the event's Attendees page for names and emails, or export a CSV. At the door, scan the QR code on each buyer's order from the Shopify mobile app to check them in.

Tip: Set a Minimum to run, such as 4 students, so you can see at a glance whether a class has enough bookings to go ahead.

Sell your next event from your own store

Astraa Events Calendar is $14 a month with a 14-day free trial and no per-ticket fees. It is launching soon on the Shopify App Store.
